I read an article today in the Asbury Park Press about the organization,
A.R.M.S.: American Recreational Military Services. They have been collecting supplies for years for deployed troops overseas. The article stated that although they have lots of supplies to send, they are short on funds to get them to the service members overseas. I had some interaction with A.R.M.S. volunteers when I volunteered with the U.S.O. and they do really great work supporting our service members.
Although the war effort has begun to wind down in the recent year, we still have thousands of troops deployed all over the world doing work on behalf of our nation and the world. They still need to know they are supported, cared about, and cared for. The war is not over until the last one comes home. Continue to support our troops and let's help A.R.M.S. get these packages sent.
If there is a chance you are able to help support A.R.M.S. of Toms River, NJ with funding the shipping of packages overseas, please visit their website:
Volunteers are needed to help sort items and pack boxes for shipment.
Volunteers meet at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday at the A.R.M.S. warehouse next to the Toms River National Guard Armory, 1200 Whitesville Road, Toms River.
The armory is across from Winding River Skating Center."
