Be Patient and Compassionate with the Living

Please check on the troops that are still with us.

Even if you know they won't want to talk, just reaching out to let them know someone is thinking of them, matters. Memorial Day for them isn't just one day, it is everyday, but it can be challenging when so much public attention is drawn to the loss they feel each and every day.  Be patient with them. They may not want to come to a barbecue and be social; it's okay for them to make the choice to be as they need to be, but spending an entire, difficult day with no one to let you know that you still matter isn't good for anyone.

For those that are new to the site, Welcome. Every Wednesday, there is a free trauma-sensitive meditation class sponsored by Meghan's Foundation at my office. I promise you won't have to sit like a pretzel or stop all of your thoughts, but I will teach you how to use the focus you learned in the military as a tool, an asset, and a helper to you in managing your stress. These skills are still valuable and useful.

Absolutely, thank you. I appreciate that. It's the interruption to what they are experiencing that seems to make the difference....not so much the actual conversation. Thanks again.
